Course Overview
This module introduces swallowing difficulties (Dysphagia), explaining what they are, why they happen, and the signs and symptoms to look out for. It highlights the risks linked to swallowing problems and outlines treatment and management approaches to keep patients safe. Learners will also be introduced to the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) framework, which provides clear guidance on food textures and thickening levels for fluids. The module includes practical tips to support people with dysphagia safely during mealtimes and in everyday care.
