The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism (Part A)
Course Overview
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism (Part A) is a standardised e-learning course for all NHS and social care staff in the UK.
It serves as the first part of a two-part training package, and is required for everyone, regardless of his or her role. The course covers:
- An introduction to understanding both learning disabilities and autism.
- The importance of effective communication.
- The concept of reasonable adjustments.
This training is a direct result of the Health and Care Act 2022, which mandates that healthcare providers must ensure their staff are appropriately trained to provide safe and compassionate care for autistic people and people with a learning disability, in order to address significant health inequalities.
